Western Immortal Organic Tuo Cha – Yunnan Shou Pu-erh

Deep, earthy and mellow, this ripe Pu-erh brews into a rounded cup with a smooth finish. Each small cake is individually wrapped and ready to steep; the leaves can be infused several times, with a slightly longer steep for each round.

Tuo Cha means “bowl tea,” a reference to the compact shape of these little cakes. This is shou, or ripe, Pu-erh: tea that undergoes a controlled aging process to develop its dark, full-bodied character. Western Immortal’s cakes are made with organic Yunnan “De Ye” shou Pu-erh, with no other ingredients.

Yunnan, in southwest China, is the home region of Pu-erh. This one-ounce pouch contains five cakes, so you can brew one at a time and return to the same leaves for several infusions.

Weight: 1 oz (28 g)
Brewing: 205°F (96°C), 3–4 minutes; briefly rinse the cake, then use 1 cake per 6–8 oz cup. Re-steep up to 8 times, adding about 5 seconds each infusion.
