Built By Bees Raw Sourwood Honey
Sourwood honey gets its name from the tree, not from the taste. North Georgia’s sourwood trees flower for a short stretch each summer, and their nectar gives this honey a smooth, rounded sweetness with notes of caramel, maple, clove, and anise. The finish has a gentle spice, like the edge of gingerbread.
Built by Bees sources its sourwood honey from private apiaries in the North Georgia Appalachians, including one tended by a beekeeper with four world honey championship wins. The same honey goes into the company’s Sourwood Balsamic Honey Vinegar, a nod to how naturally its layered sweetness works beyond the breakfast table.
Spoon it over yogurt or warm biscuits, set it beside a sharp cheese, or brush it onto roasted chicken. Sourwood honey also crystallizes more slowly than many other honeys, so it tends to stay pourable longer.
